Kids in the Kitchen

9618_1226092738880_1425871624_641637_3963404_nMy children love to help out in the kitchen. In fact, sometimes they argue about who gets to do what. I try to give them kitchen tasks and involve them in food choices. We have a lot of fun and the kids are learning a lot. Here is an old picture of my daughter “helping” me make applesauce.

Today I wanted to share a new feature from Around My Family Table. AMFT is my friend Wendy’s blog. She is a kitchen guru and her blog always has useful tips and recipes. She has recently started a new feature called Kids in the Kitchen. On the first Friday of each month she will feature a kid friendly recipe and point out teachable moments such as knife safety, cleanliness and measuring. You can even send in your child’s pictures and recipes. Let me know if you stop by AMFT and if you send in your child’s recipe and pictures. Kids_in_the_kitchen

Do your children help out in the kitchen?  What do they do? Feel free to leave a comment. Share and let’s talk about it.

  9. Choose a healthier way of cooking your own food. Grill, bake, roast, steam, or microwave foods. Instead of deep frying, you can also stir-fry. Also choose methods of cooking that can retain the color, the flavor as well as the nutrients of the vegetables and other ingredients.
