Christmas Giving Opportunity: Operation Christmas Child

Christmas Giving Opportunity: Operation Christmas Child

I am delighted to share my absolute favorite Christmas giving opportunity with you. Operation Christmas Child is a program in which people just like you assemble shoe boxes filled with gifts for children who may not get anything else for Christmas. This program brings joy, gifts, and the gospel message to children all over the world.

My children get a lot of joy from this project. They enjoy shopping for the unknown child and making sure he or she gets as much as can possibly fit into a shoe box. This program is good for both the giver and the receiver. We usually donate two boxes every year, one for a boy and one for a girl. We also like to track our box to see where it ends up.  Our boxes went to the Philippines last year.

Please consider making this a part of your family’s holiday traditions.  It is a great object lesson for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Operation Christmas Child brings the real meaning of Christmas closer to home.

  1. We do this every year and really look forward to it! Its such an awesome opportunity to talk to the kids about giving to those less fortunate than us. My daughter really got into it this year which was so exciting to see! 🙂

  2. We’ve done this before as a part of our church’s program. One year, my hubs grabbed four names off the tree! He said “I know how it can feel, not knowing if you’ll be getting anything for Christmas. Let’s make Christmas special for these kids”

  3. This is something that should be done every day.
