Sicks days are hard on kiddos and they can be hard on moms as well, especially around the holidays. We moms want to make sick days manageable for our children, but what about getting through those days ourselves? Here are some tips to help moms who are helping sick kiddos this holiday season. Don’t ring in the New Year feeling blue!
Help the Child, Help the Mom – We feel better as moms when our kiddos feel better. It goes without saying that when we see a fever drop, or a cough ease, we feel better as well. I trust the pediatric brands of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, namely Children’s Advil®, Children’s Robitussin® and Children’s Dimetapp® , to tackle the ickiest of symptoms.
Remember Your Own Needs – While you are taking care of your sick child, get in a little bit of mom-care. Make sure you are drinking enough water, eating, and getting rest. It is so easy to forget our own needs but that can spell disaster for our children. We need to be well so we can care for our kiddos.
Balance! – It is hard to balance motherhood with “me” time isn’t it? But these two things do not have to be mutually-exclusive. I find that I can fill my need for relaxation and entertainment while also taking care of my kiddos. For example, when my children are home sick, I often watch movies from my childhood with them, read aloud to them, share family stories, and even do simple crafts if they feel up to it. Balance is easiest when you can see family goals and not just your goals.

I try and make my kids as comfortable as possible with medicine, popsicles a comfy blanket and a movie and cuddle up with them. I try to get some me time when they are sleeping.
