2 Hearts (2020)

Based on a true story, 2 Hearts is a romantic journey that celebrates life, love, and generosity of spirit.
2 Hearts Movie PosterIt has been seven months since I walked into a theater to watch a new release movie. As an avid movie-goer, those seven months felt more like seven years. Despite the mask protocols and required distancing, I was glad to be back in familiar territory and ready to hear a new story. 2 Hearts is based on a true story. Since I had never heard that story, I walked into the theater without tissues. Big mistake.

2 Hearts tells the story of two couples who were destined to find one another, and whose lives make an unexpected intersection. The two main characters are Chris and Jorge. Chris is a bit of a goof, but that makes him endearing. He is a character full of humor, love, and heart. Jorge is a man who has learned to deal with life’s difficulties in a way that will place you on his cheering squad. In separate timelines, they both fall in love with women who seem to have been placed into their paths by a divine hand. As an audience, you watch two couples, made for one another, grow closer and fall in love.

But the story does not end there. If 2020 has taught us anything, it should be that life is unpredictable and we do not have control over much. That is a lesson our characters learned years ago when the events of this movie took place. I will not spoil this movie for you, but I will say its story is beautiful. I am going to hunt down the book this movie is based on and read it. I want to know more about these people and their story.

2 Hearts is rated PG-13 for brief strong language (someone yells an F-word off camera). There are no sexual scenes, although we do see one unmarried couple wake up in bed together, their clothes on the floor. There is also talk of creating babies, but nothing inappropriate. It should be fine for families to see with their middle school and up aged kids.
