Summer! No school, camp-outs, s’mores, swimming, and family vacations. It can be a great time but it can also be a busy time. Would you mind if I asked you to add one more thing to your summer plans? If you haven’t already, why not add giving to your to-do list? There are so many ways to give and to make a difference. Let me tell you about one awesome program you can participate in.

Walmart and Champions for Kids are teaming up this summer to feed hungry children. You can help them donate 5 million meals through the Summer of Giving program by dropping by the Walmart freezer section and supporting the sponsor brands (Tyson, Birds Eye and State Fair). When you do, you’ll be helping to feed hungry kids in your local community. It’s that easy.

I am proud to be working with The Motherhood and Champions for Kids on the Summer of Giving program and sharing just how simple it is to help local families in need. Other than buying the brands listed above, I also encourage you to get involved in the Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service Projects. Every SIMPLE Service Project has 4 basic steps: 1) gather your friends, family, and co-workers; 2) learn about the needs of children in your community; 3) give items to help kids enjoy happier and healthier lives; and 4) share your story with Champions for Kids to inspire others!

Summer of Giving: Give Back and Win Big for Your School #SummerofGivingKids love helping others. My daughter regularly goes next door to her great-grandparents’  house to help with chores.  She also recently participated in a food and clothing drive that benefited families in need. I bet your kids would love to help you plan a SIMPLE Service Project. Need some more incentive? Giving to others is awesome and your kids will love it, but by doing your own SIMPLE Service food donation project you could win $25,000 for your school! Click here for details.

Let’s break this all down. There are two steps for giving back and winning big this summer.

  1. Visit the Walmart freezer section and support the sponsor brands (Tyson, Birds Eye and State Fair). Look for the Summer of Giving signs.
  2. Complete your SIMPLE Service project and share your story here and you might win$25,000 for your school.

As part of this campaign, I was sent a $100 Walmart gift card to purchase food items for my local food bank. It is so rewarding to know that you are helping others get the food they need to survive. The kids really get into this kind of service project and I hope your kids get to experience that this summer as well. Happy shopping and good luck!

I participated in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids and The Motherhood and was compensated. All opinions are my own.
