One of the downsides of maintaining a blog is screening out all of the spam comments and the links to questionable sites they often contain. This week had been a particularly insane week of spam. I have gotten an unreal amount of comments in which spammers try to make their comments seem like normal reader comments. You have got to check out some of these.
- Fastidious respond in return of this question with genuine arguments and telling the whole thing regarding that.

Comments like this are left by spammers with names like Nike Free, Get More Twitter Followers, and Mazda RX7. Allrighty then.
And finally, this articulate comment was posted on my newspaper crafts post:

Um, okay then.
But seriously, spammers, please GET A LIFE. If you have an awesome site or product that you want to share, then promote it in an upfront and honest way. Since, that is obviously not going to happen, I will keep hitting the spam button.

I was getting crazy spam for awhile, mine were usually promoting things I can’t even share though! I finally set it so that there was captcha on any posts older than a week and that seemed to fix it. I hate having to use captcha but I hated the spam even more.
It comes and goes in waves. My askimet usually catches it but these ones get by more and more. I had about 100 yesterday alone! I hate captcha more though lol.
Hahah, some of those are so deep! Gotta love creative head scratching SPAM!

Er, I’m pretty sure the comment above me is spam 🙂 Anyway, do you use Askimet plugin? Most of the spam comments will go to where they are supposed to be.
Lol. Yes, actually I do but it has been letting a lot slip through. I just went through and deleted a ton more goofy spam comments.
The truth is they are using a software that sends out nonsensical comments to different blogs. I was bombarded with these types of comments when my blog was new but when I started using Akismet plugin, all of them disappeared.
Wow! Those are crazy bad….I just happened upon this while browsing your recipe section…LOL, I”m headed back there now. But these definitely made me laugh out loud!
