School is back in session for a lot of children. For some, this means the end of days by the pool and the beginning of a slow cool down toward an approaching fall. I want to take this opportunity to remind you that pools and other bodies of water are attractive to children year round, even if you have put your pool toys away. Remember to watch your children around water as the school year causes your level of busyness to skyrocket. If you are going to leave your child with a caregiver, make sure their pool is fenced and check to see what other safety precautions they have in place. Never think pool accidents and drownings cannot happen to your family. That kind of thinking often leads to decreased vigilance. Enjoy the end of your summer, and keep watching your children around water.
In memory of my niece Dominique who would have graduated high school this year. We love and miss you sweetie.
