I am a sucker for the classics, in both literature and on the silver screen. I love the feel of older movies and love sharing them with my children. Sometimes the movies I remember loving as a kid fall flat with my kiddos. However, many of my favorites have made their way into my children’s hearts as well. The six movies listed below are some of my all-time favorites. Check out these awesome classic Disney movies. Your family will love them!
That Darn Cat is easily my favorite classic Disney movie. It is full of wit, suspense, and oh so much humor! This is the movie that made me like cats. Even though That Darn Cat is nearly 50 years old my kiddos were rolling with laughter while they watched it. The humor and humanity of this movie is definitely not dated. Every kid ends up falling in love with D.C., the title character. You simply must watch this movie and follow D.C. on his mission to find the bad guys.
The Absent Minded Professor is a fun and goofy movie that will have your kiddos laughing so much they won’t even care that it is in black and white. This movie is the story of a college professor with an amazing invention that gets him into a little bit of trouble.
I first watched The Parent Trap at school and I was so amazed that they could make one actress appear to be twins in a movie. My sisters are twins and I always thought it would be fun to have my own double. The Parent Trap is the story of two twins who don’t know they are twins. Once they discover one another they set a plan in motion. Will they succeed?
Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)
Escape to Witch Mountain is a sci-fi adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Some scenes might be too scary for sensitive children but overall it will be a fun and wild ride for your family.
I hope you will have the opportunity to share a few of these movies with your family soon.
What are your favorite classic Disney movies?
Great list…we’ve seen about half of these. Guess I know what we will be watching the rest of the summer. 🙂
OMG absolutely love them! I must say I dont remember Charlie the lonesome cougar. Haley Mills was my favorite actress when I was a little girl! Another movie to ad to that list is Bedknobs and Broomsticks!
My favorite is probably an animated one… Monsters Inc and also Wreck It Ralph…lol
Such a great list! I love their live-action movies almost as much as the animated ones.
Love Escape from Witch Mountain – definitely need to re-watch some of these.
What a great list! Now that we have the extra movie services, I really should be finding these offerings for my 10 year old son. Cause left to his own devices, what he picks rarely makes me happy!
thanks,
Mitch
Wow, thanks for the fantastic list! I did not know half of them!
awesome, thanks this is a great list
I LOVE Lady and the Tramp. It is my all time favorite. I completely forgot about some of the movies you listed. Thank you because I am about to have a baby of my own in August and need an excuse to buy and watch Disney movies.
I have seen all of these movies except Charlie the lonesome cougar.
I’m looking for box sets of the Disney live action movie classics. Does anyone know where I can get them?
No but maybe check Amazon?
I love the old classics much better than new movies and so much fun to watch with the Grandkids bring memories of being a kid and seeing them
I’m with you…there’s just something about a classic!
Thanks for the list. We’ve not watched any of those. Movie week planned thanks to you 🙂
You are welcome!
I can’t believe I haven’t seen some of these! And I’m a really big Disney fan! Adding a few to my list to watch!
The first three movies listed I remember watching in elementary school. Love these movies. The reason why I love movies like this is because there’s so family-friendly. It’s so hard to find a movie nowadays that’s not full of smut sex and foul language. You can always count on Disney
I’ve never seen the Absent minded professor, but if it’s in black n white, I’m afraid my kids will lose interest. 🙁 But I still want to see it!! LOL It’s the only one on the list I haven’t seen. I love classic Disney.
