Hello Celebrating Family readers! I’m Vanessa from See Vanessa Craft, where I blog about my love for glitter and glue guns. Thank you to Janice for having me on her blog. I’d love for her readers to stop by my blog and say hello! You can also find me on facebook, twitter and pinterest. On to the tutorial!
I’ll be showing you how to make dark chocolate candy cane truffles, just in time for the holidays. The thing that I love most about truffles is that they are so rich and filling that you really only need one to feel satisfied. Just a warning, this recipe can get a little sticky when coating the balls but it is totally worth it!
Ingredients (makes approximately 30 truffles)
- 1 3/4 Cups Dark Chocolate Chips
- 12 Candy Canes
- 1/3 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 6 Tbsp Butter
Directions
Step 1: Bring heavy whipping cream to a simmer over the stove in a sauce pan. Add butter and dark chocolate. Constantly mix until melted. Refrigerate for 3 hours or until firm.
Step 2: As your chocolate truffle mixture is hardening, crush 12 candy canes using a food processor or in a freezer bag with a rolling pin.
Step 3: Using a melon baller or small ice cream scoop, roll the truffle mixture into small balls.
Step 4: Coat the balls in crushed candy canes.
Step 5: Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks!

Good recipe – most people I know dip the truffle in chocolate before the candy canes – but since the candy canes really are the coating, there’s not really much point to that, is there?

Great recipe. I love to bake from scratch myself. This week we had a professional Santa come over. I was baking cookies like crazy for refreshments for everyone. I will add this recipe to my cooking arsenal. And the fact that you can refridgerate for two weeks is great for making in advance when I have the time before an upcoming event.
