The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been embedding itself into American culture and modern folklore for the last 10 years. Everything has been leading up to this moment. Keep reading for my spoiler-free and family-focused review of Avengers: Infinity War.
Avengers: Infinity War brings together heroes from all over the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in an effort to fight Thanos, the most powerful foe they have ever faced. If you have been paying attention, you already know that Thanos has been trying to gather all of the Infinity Stones in an effort to wield unstoppable power. The result is absolutely stunning. Will Marvel ever be the same again?
On the bright side, Avengers: Infinity War delivers an Avengers-worthy dose of humor, heroism, gorgeous heroes (I’m talking to you Captain America), and action. However, I promise you will not leave the theater feeling uplifted. You should go see this movie anyway. It is absolutely incredible, powerful, and pivotal. I was amazed at how well the various story-lines of all of these heroes were seamlessly interwoven. The presence of so many important characters did not seem like too much, and the resulting team was thrilling to watch.
If you feel the need to binge the entire MCU, check out this chronological list. Otherwise, just be sure you have recently watched Captain American: the First Avenger, Captain American: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black Panther.
Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references.
Worth seeing in 3D? The media preview I saw was in 2D, but I kept thinking it would be amazing in 3D.
Scene after the credits? There is one stinger after the credits.
