Like most children, my kiddos love craft-time. Like most moms, I love finding craft ideas that are fun, keep the kiddos engaged, and are inexpensive. This is a craft I came up with on a day when the children were going stir-crazy at home. This craft activity includes design, coloring, searching for and evaluating items, and more fun steps. It is also cheap to do because it involves using items you probably already have at home. The finished product is not going to wow or stun gallery owners, but your child will love it because it is fun, imaginative and is all about them.
The first step I took was to gather together several art and craft supplies. I corralled markers, crayons, various types of glue, poster paper, and stickers.
Once I had the supplies ready, I gave each child a manila envelope to write their name on and decorate.
Next, we searched the yard and house for anything that the kiddos liked or thought represented them (and was suitable to glue to a poster).
Once all the items were gathered, I had each child lay down on a piece of poster paper and I traced their head and shoulders silhouette.
The finished product! My children simply loved this activity. Their posters are now hanging next to their beds. This was fun, easy, and cheap. Overall, this activity held their attention for about an hour.

Isaiah's still too little for much beyond crayons, but this is a great idea! We'll have to try it when he's bigger. Or, I can do it with my cousins. 🙂

This looks like a really fun idea! We might have to try it the next time my son says, "I'm bored." Which by my calculations should be about two minutes from now…
