The other day I did something I don’t usually do; I watched television. I usually keep my screen activity to movies and Netflix streaming so I avoid commercials, new sitcoms, and talk shows. I like it this way. Pop culture annoys me. One consistent theme that ran though my TV that day was that men suck. They are stupid sex-maniacs who leave their families. I also hear this dribble from women I know and see it all over the Internet. While I do know men who fall into those stereotypes, I know far more who do not. So I thought I would take a moment to share 25 reasons to love men.
- They are great at killing large spiders (see image above).
- They are strong and can open jars for you, pick you up, and carry you if you get tired.
- Good men work hard so their families are taken care of. They give up many of their own desires in the interest and care of their families.
- Men are manly, which is nice. One look at my husband, the Hemsworth brothers, or Robert Downey Jr. makes that obvious.
- Men provide half the DNA for our children.
- Building on that, good men are daddies not just fathers.
- Men have a sense of adventure that is very inspiring.
- Football. Enough said.
- Men have a long history of defending our freedoms.
- Good men keep society safe from bad men.
- Men are good at fixing cars.
- Men like to fix things in general.
- Men can make you feel safe (it’s nice to have one with you when walking in a dark parking lot, for example).
- Men have awesome spatial abilities. Yes, that is cool. Yes, I am jealous.
- Men look more handsome with age. Again, I am jealous.
- On average, men are bigger than women. My husband is bigger and that makes me feel feminine and delicate at times.
- They are not led by their emotions, which makes them more predictable than many women I know.
- Men love their women and find us attractive even when we don’t agree.
- Men have added countless songs, movies, books, and art to our culture.
- Some of the greatest chefs are men. Yes, I am talking to you Rick Bayless.
- Men have discovered many cool things, like the Strait of Magellan andย Tutankhamunโs tomb.
- Daddies are the best at roughhousing and shoulder rides.
- Men smell good. Sometimes squeaky clean and with a touch of cologne, and sometimes just plain old natural man.
- Good men hold the door open for you and help you carry heavy things.
- Men are both graceful and rough creatures. Hard lines, stubble, strong jawlines, protruding veins, and an often wild beauty.
Thank God for men!
Think of the man you love most and tell me what you love about him.
Love this list! Even though I have a god man I need a reminder sometimes!
I believe man and woman are the complement of one another. This post makes me think about all the things I love about women. It’s nice to know some women still love men. I say to men ” do not neglect the duties of husband and father and we may again be respected by women of our community”.
Thanks for a beautiful response.
My man is awesome. I’ve been sick for a few weeks now and he’s been pulling mom and dad duty on top of working from home!
I tell him I keep him around to open jars and that he’s lucky he’s good in bed!
But seriously, he’s got amazing tetris skills when it comes to loading a trunk for vacation or moving van (which ironically don’t translate to the dishwasher for some reason– that’s my gift I guess) and he’s always very sweet about carrying my violin after a concert. He makes me feel like my boyfriend walking me home carrying my books. I could go on, of course, I’m pretty sure I’ve got the best husband ever!
Great response. Love your love story!
Those are just Great!! Good Job ๐
Thank you.
I love these reasons. I would like to add that I love my husband for encouraging me to be a calmer nicer person!
Men can be great at bringing out our best!
Thanks Janice,
For adding so much for men, I think men won’t believe that they’ve so many things to be loved. Really awesome points, and I’m going to bookmark it as you hardly find any content which appreciate men. ๐
I love that you can see the qualities that you love about your husband especially. Not all of those apply to my man, but I can easily think of 25 things I love about him too. My #1 is scorpion killing.
Ha ha! I can relate!
I agree – good men are chivalrous. I haven’t had to carry in a grocery bag since before I got married ๐
There’s so many reasons that I love my hubby. He really is a good man. He’s a manly, Mr. Fix-it man, too, which I super love.
What an awesome tribute to men…. and good timing with Father’s Day around the corner!
I am with you, I can’t stand watching straight TV. I find it highly frustrating, I am a huge Netflix addict!
What a great list. My fiance does do most of the cooking and he washes dishes too. Which is a bonus. I do the laundry which makes him happy. We try to compliment one another and work as a team as often as possible.
What a great list! My husband does his share around the house with the kids and works hard to provide for us. He truly is a gem in my life!
My husband is a little ( 1 inch) shorter than me but it doesn’t make me feel any less feminine .
I don’t think I could give just ONE reason I love my man so much! He gives the most amazing shoulder and back massages I’ve ever had in my life! AND it’s not just a 5 minute deal. One time he spent 45 minutes giving me a massage.
Needless to say I was a drooling mess when he was done. LOL
He’s also extremely responsible, incredibly patient, very manly even if he doesn’t see it, and proves his love to me by every little thing he does ๐
I definitely agree with #23. My husband smells pretty nice!
Yeah I guess…,.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, LOL! Seriously I couldn’t do it without my man!
HA! I absolutely LOVE this post… and manly men!! So true that they look good at any age ๐
I love this list! it is so true; the good men are amazing and so worth every minute of loving.
So many great reasons, great list!
I love this list! I think guys get a bad wrap! My husband is much better than me at so many things, I am so grateful for that!
Ya know what? I love this post. I am so sick of hearing all the man bashing lately. I just-so-happened to marry my hubby because I not only love him, I LIKE him. It’s crazy to hear all these man-basing jokes.
Great post! Yes, good men make sacrifices for their families. I totally love that they contribute “half the DNA for our children” that makes them pretty important! ๐
Spiders, YES!! And they do look better with age, why is that!?
I have been married for many years. I thank you for a list that almost perfectly describes my Dad, for whom I am very thankful. I didn’t marry a man anything like him…
That is a cute list.
These are some truths! I do think it’s entirely unfair how gracefully they age though. Stinkers!
HAHAH..I love this post… funny and soo true.. I soo needed this, had a rough day at work and you made my evening.. if for nothing else but killing the spiders.. that is enough for me to keep the men around..hahah ๐
Kathy
I’m 67 never been married, but I love men and EVERYTHING about men! Maybe one day…
