I live in a very small house so every inch of space I can free up means a lot to me. My living room closet has to house many things and until recently a rather large amount of space was being occupied by DVDs. A friend of mine mentioned that she stores her DVDs in her carousel DVD player and had tossed out all of the DVD covers. While the space-saving intrigued me, I was a little disconcerted by the idea of getting rid of my DVD covers. My friend asked me why I felt I needed the covers and I realized she was right in implying that I did not. The movie title and rating are right on the DVD in most instances and I doubt I will ever try to sell any of my movies. I was inspired by my friend and I ditched all the DVD covers and I now store my movies in a DVD binder like this one. Check out the picture below to see how much space I saved and I still have room for about 100 more DVDs in my binder. The binder also makes it easier for my children to browse through our movies. This is an easy and affordable space saving idea for your closet.

I love the idea of a DVD binder!! We have a CD binder, but I never thought of doing the same thing with DVDs. Then I could use the bookcases for my books (although I have been trying to swap out real books for Kindle books whenever possible – another space saver!!)
I have the same set up for upstairs, only I couldn’t bring myself to pitch the cases. I’m having hubby put them up in the attic soon. But, we might go through our movie collection and pull some for sale or donation before then.
