Sing (2016)

My daughter and I enjoy watching singing competition television shows. We especially love hearing the contestants’ backstories and enjoy cheering on the underdogs. When my daughter saw that there was going to be an animated movie based on a singing competition she was excited. When I saw the list of names in the movie’s all-star cast, I was excited. Sing tells the story of a struggling theater owner and his plan to save his livelihood and dreams. We also meet several characters with compelling stories and loads of talent. There is a lot to root for in this animated film.

Sing stars Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, and many other big names. The story is compelling and the viewer becomes invested in many of the characters. The music is modern and enjoyable and the film does an amazing job of balancing drama, comedy, and suspense.

I recommend this movie for families and music lovers. It is a fun movie that your family will enjoy. The musical performances alone will make you want to burst out in applause.
