I love getting mail. You know, real mail in the mailbox. Don’t you? I figure that most people enjoy a bit of cheer and some color in their mailbox so one of my resolutions this year is to write more letters and send more cards. Keeping in touch via social media is starting to feel insufficient to me. I want to connect in a more tangible way. Luckily, I was recently invited to take part in Hallmark’s Get Carded Challenge and I wanted to share the challenge with you and issue you one of my own.
As part of the Hallmark Get Carded Challenge, last month I sent seven people Hallmark cards over a seven day period. It was fun to choose the cards and recipients because I love that sort of thing. What was even more fun was hearing people’s reactions to receiving the cards. Some came right in a moment of emotional need, while others just loved getting mail. Since Hallmark has such a wide variety of cards there are always several cards that are just perfect for whoever you are buying for. I loved this card for someone in a difficult situation.
Hallmark wants you to take the #GetCarded Challenge and so do I. In fact, I challenge you to make sending cards a regular part of your monthly routine. Don’t just post a Happy Birthday greeting on social media, send your BFF a card in the mail, too. Don’t just text your friend a quick thank you, send a card instead. It will brighten their day and yours as well. I really believe that real mail is fading away fast and I think that is a shame. So let’s flood the mail with colored envelopes filled with cheer, encouragement, sympathy, and thanks.
