One of my favorite things to do is to pick out gifts for people. I love trying to figure out what they will like and I love the challenge of locating at least one item that is new to them. We actually don’t do the Easter Bunny story around here since we keep Easter Christ-centered. It is, after all, the holiest time in the Christian faith. But we still do baskets out of tradition and to celebrate the gift God gave to us at Easter. The easiest thing to put into an Easter basket is candy and candy is everywhere right now. Bunny shaped sour candy, cross shaped chocolate, peeps, marshmallow eggs – you can find just about anything. I do put some candy into my kiddos’ baskets, but I try to keep it at a minimum (just like their Christmas stockings).
Check out these ideas for some fun, unique, and even a few traditional Easter basket ideas.
- Books (can be Easter or spring themed, or not!)
- Baseball, softball, tennis balls, etc.
- Kid-friendly nail polish like Piggy Paint
- Novelty Socks
- Play Dough and Play Dough tools
- Fun t-shirts. Walmart and Target always have a ton cheaply priced tees.
- Hair bows and ribbons
- Hot Wheels
- Hexbug Nanos. We LOVE Hexbugs in my family.
- Card games
- Bath crayons
- Sidewalk chalk
- Flower or vegetable seeds – kids love gardening and watching things they plant grow.
- Jump rope
- Jacks – old school fun.
- Stationary – get them writing letters!
- Wind-up toys (my son is crazy for these)
- Key chains
- Lanyards
- Fun pencils like Treesmart Pencils made with recycled newspaper. My kids LOVE these. I especially like how you can still see the printing on the graphite pencils.
- Stickers
- Disposable camera
- Flashlight, nightlight, or Mini Dream Light
- Jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and they do not have to be expensive)
- $5 gift card to their favorite ice cream parlor or bakery
- Slinky

Good ideas, we like to do puzzles, jump ropes, side walk chalk etc things that are fun to play outside, and dvds if there is a special one coming out around that time. (Wreck It Ralph last year). Also hair bows. This year she’s getting a couple Kawaii Crush dolls that I scored on clearance at Wal Mart and two Disney Infinity characters (Anna and Elsa most likely.)

Great ideas – my kids get ONE candy item in their Easter baskets, I always allow them to pick it (usually a favorite) and that’s all, the rest are little gifts, like a pair of flip flops for my girls, and LEGO minifigures for my son.
