Disney’s the BFG (Movie Review and Gobblefunk Word Search)

Disney's the BFG (Movie Review and Gobblefunk Word Search)A new Disney movie is hitting screens around the country. Disney’s The BFG is an animated telling of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book. I was invited to attend an early media screening of the movie and I took my daughter, who has read the book, along with me. I have not read the book so I had no idea what to expect. As a fan of Dahl stories, I knew it was likely going to be a fun and quirky story and I was not disappointed. The BFG has the feel of a classic Disney movie and is one of the best family movies of the year.

Disney's the BFG (Movie Review and Gobblefunk Word Search)The BFG, directed by Steven Spielberg, is the story of an orphan girl who makes the acquaintance of a giant, in a most unusual way. The story is fun and lighthearted, but there is danger and eccentricity in the usual Dahl style. This movie is an adventure for the heart and a feast for the eyes. The imagery is both beautiful and creative. Most of the characters in The BFG are likable and all of them are well developed. Even though I have not read the book, I never got the feeling that I was missing anything.

I recommend The BFG for kids of all ages. However, as I always say, know your child as there are a few mentions of nightmares, bullying, and some pretty ferocious hungry giants.

Rating: PG for action/peril, some scary moments and brief rude humor.

Worth seeing in 3D? A big yes! There are not many things popping out of the screen at you, but the movie’s scenary and action is very good in 3D. There is one night scene in particular that is stunning in 3D.

Scene after the credits? No.

After you see the movie, your kiddos will LOVE completing this BFG Gobblefunk Word Search. Click here or on the image below to download the word search.
