Pizza Engineers: Tips for Having a Pizza Making Night With Your Kids

Tips for having a pizza making night with your children.

Pizza anyone? Pizza seems to be a meal most kids would eat every day. We eat at local pizzerias, carry out, and we sometimes make it at home. One of my children’s favorite ways to eat pizza is to make it themselves. They have a lot of fun and they get to decide exactly what goes on the pizza. I have found that my children cooperate more at dinnertime if they had a hand in making the dinner. Here is a quick, easy and cheap way to have a fun pizza-building night at home. You will need a pre-made dough, toppings, a cookie sheet or baking stone, and a pizza cutter.

Tips for having a pizza-making night with your children:

  1. Roll out dough and cut into the sizes and shapes you prefer. You can make one large pizza or several personal sizes.
  2. Season the dough by brushing it with garlic olive oil.
  3. Have the child spread desired amount of sauce onto the crust.
  4. Let the child add cheese and any other toppings desired.
  5. Cook the pizza according to the dough instructions on the package.
  6. Enjoy!

Everyone always has fun when we do this in our home. Each person gets what they want and they get to help make it, too. It is a simple way for your kiddos to help out and get their cooking confidence up.

Do your children enjoy making their own pizza?ย  How does your family do it? Feel free to leave a comment. Share and letโ€™s talk about it.

  1. Fun. Growing up when we had sleepovers usually for Birthday celebrations my Mom gave us English Muffin and we made our own mini Pizzas. My daughter did the same with sauce, cheese and various toppings and bake. I saw one of her childhood friends recently and she commented how she loved coming to Jacklyn's because of the mini pizzas.

  2. That is awesome, Debbie. It's funny how the little things parents do with their kids often end up being the things that get remembered. xoxo

    Janice,
I wanted to thank you for the great recipes and the helpful tips on how to help me keep my family entertained. It is hard to find a blog that is as useful as yours. Thanks again.

  5. Fun! My kids love helping when I make pizza.

Pizza dough is incredibly easy to make ahead, too, and freeze. If I haven't made the dough ahead of time, I'll use my bread machine to make the dough without much fuss for me.

  6. We love making pizza at home…it's one of our favorite activities! Thanks for sharing!
