Numbers in Nature: A Mirror Maze

Numbers in Nature: A Mirror Maze

There is a new exhibit at the Arizona Science Center and it is a lot of fun. The Numbers in Nature exhibit has arrived and its headliner is a pretty impressive mirror maze that your entire family will enjoy. This exhibition, which the Philly Voice called “the city’s most Instagrammable exhibit,” is at the Arizona Science Center through September 4, 2018. Numbers in Nature lets you explore nature’s puzzles, patterns, and mazes in an interactive and immersive exhibition. You will also learn about the mathematical patterns that abound in nature.

The maze was quite an adventure. There I am in the middle of the maze. I advise that you go through it more than once and do it slowly. And please, keep your fingers off the glass so others cannot see where the mirrors are! Check out the fast motion video I made of my second pass through the maze.

After having fun in the maze, stay a while and learn about numbers in nature. I am always telling my kids that math is God’s language and his building block of the universe. Check out these patterns that can be seen all across nature.

The exhibit also includes some fun interactive activities. I had two elementary students and two high school students with me and they all enjoyed the activities.

Be sure to catch this exhibit while it is here in Phoenix or when it comes to a city near you. And keep your eye out for the patterns all around you.
