Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge

My family recently had the privilege of being guests of the Great Wolf Lodge SoCal. While we were there we got a behind the scenes look at what makes this family resort an ideal family destination. Great Wolf Lodge is more than an indoor water park. Keep reading for trip tips and highlights.

Have you been to a Great Wolf Lodge? There are located across the country and the newest location is in Southern California. Great Wolf Lodge is a wonderland of fun for families with an indoor water park, interactive game experiences, 4D theater, several dining options, bowling alley, and a full calendar of activities and events. We stayed as guests of the Great Wolf Lodge for two nights and never had a dull moment.

Check In

From the minute your family first steps into Great Wolf Lodge, you can feel the fun in the air. It is an electric atmosphere. We walked into the middle of a dance party and were greeted by a smiling and helpful staff. When you check in, you receive a wristband for each member of your party. These take the place of room keys and admission tickets. These wristbands get you into your room and help you make purchases (do not worry, the kids cannot charge to your room!).

The Rooms

My family stayed in a standard family suite, which was very nice, but you can book a fun themed suite for a little extra adventure. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were impeccably clean.

Water Park Attractions

Great Wolf Lodge is known as the resort with an indoor water park, but it so so much more than that. The water park is impressive with a variety of fun, clean, and well-kept attractions. The water park is only open to resort guests, although it can be booked for birthday parties and special events. This keeps the attendance manageable and the lines shorter. My kiddos thoroughly enjoyed the Wolf Rider Wipeout indoor surf simulator.

MagiQuest

Both of my kiddos agreed that the water park was not their favorite part of the Great Wolf Lodge experience. Their favorite activity was the MagiQuest game. MagiQuest makes Great Wolf Lodge into an interactive game for each kid. This is an added expense but is well worth it. Kids choose a magic wand and set off on a quest. They can play for a few minutes or all day (into the night). Kiddos can also take their wand home and continue their adventure on your next trip to Great Wolf Lodge. This is a pivotal part of the Great Wolf Lodge experience and I recommend you plan for it. The game is spread across several floors and around every corner of the resort. Here is a pic of my son fighting the dragon.

Other attractions include glow golf, a 24 hour arcade, a laser game, bowling, and a 4D theater that is sure to thrill!

Scooops Kid Spa

Scooops Kid Spa is the cutest spa you have ever seen. Everything is themed around ice cream and is totally sweet. Plan this stop after you are all finished in the water park. My daughter felt pampered with the simple Sprinkled in Scooops treatment, but they have options for all tastes and budgets.

Dining

There are so many delicious food choices at Great Wolf Lodge. Dining options include a pizzeria, ice cream shop, upscale restaurant, family dining with a buffet, coffee shop, and more. My son had the “best wings ever” at the Lodge Wood Fired Grill (which is where I also had the best risotto ever). Make sure you eat a few Woofles if you can!

Activities for All

The Great Wolf Lodge schedule is full from morning until night. Activities include dance parties, story time, crafts, games, and more. This is one happening place and is not for those who are looking for a kicked back, peaceful vacation. Great Wolf Lodge is all about family togetherness and activities.

We left Great Wolf Lodge already talking about our next visit. We will definitely be returning to Great Wolf Lodge SoCal in the future.

Plan your Great Wolf Lodge Visit here. There are many packages and deals available for differing family budgets.
