Grand Canyon Railway Hotel

Grand Canyon Railway Hotel

I have ridden the Grand Canyon Railway twice in my life. My husband and I rode the train up to the Grand Canyon a decade ago but more recently we took our children to experience the Polar Express train trip for a little Christmas cheer. We stayed in the Grand Canyon Railroad Hotel both times that we rode the train, and we had a wonderful experience each time. The moment that you walk into the lobby at the hotel, you feel warm and welcome.

The hotel itself is very nice, casual elegance as they say on their website. We stayed in a Deluxe Room which included two queen beds, an LG flat-screen TV with satellite TV, and new furnishings. Our room also had a mini-fridge, in-room coffee maker, telephone, alarm clock, air conditioning, and a full bathroom with granite counter-tops.  The hotel also boasts a long list of amenities outside of the rooms including an arcade, fitness center, playground, and an indoor pool and hot tub.  My family especially loved the pool. We could see snow on the ground outside while we splashed comfortably in the pool.

The staff at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel is one of the nicest I have experienced. They were friendly, helpful, and chatty in a good way.  The hotel had many other points of excellence. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had a hard time getting out of it in the morning. The pool was well maintained and was at a perfect temperature. Also, the arcade had Galaga and Ms. Pacman, which this eighties girl appreciated. My only complaints are minor: there were too many games out of order in the arcade and the items for sale for breakfast were too expensive for a family of four.  However, the food was good and the arcade provided us with fun.

If you are in the Williams, Arizona area I would highly recommend the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel, especially if you are riding the train. It was a cold and icy night when my family rode the Polar Express and I was surprised to hear that a few of the families sitting near us were driving home from Williams to the Phoenix Metro Area right after the train ride ended. I had peace of mind knowing that we could walk right out of the Depot, cross a small parking lot, and be inside the warm, cozy, and beautiful hotel.

If you are like me and live somewhere without snow, one bonus of traveling to places like Williams this time of year is snow! The snow really made our trip.  My desert kids were overjoyed to see it when we woke up in the morning.

The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel is located in Williams, Arizona.
