Easy Ocean Cupcakes 2 Ways

I previously shared the fact that I cannot make a pretty cupcake to save my life. Because of this deficiency, I am always trying to find quick and easy ways to make my cupcakes fun. I posted the blue cupcakes below several years ago. They are easy to make and fun for parties. Anyone one can make these super easy ocean cupcakes. The white cupcakes are a little more difficult, but easy as well.

For the blue cupcakes, make your favorite cupcakes and vanilla frosting. Add a little bit of blue food dye to the frosting until you get a nice oceanic color. Frost the cupcakes and sprinkle with blue sugar crystals. Place a Swedish fish or gummy shark on each cupcake.

These cupcakes are more fun if you decorate around them as well. I decorated the bottom of a cake box with blue tissue paper and placed ocean-themed stickers around the cupcakes. These were easy, fun, and the children in my son’s class loved them.

For the fancier white cupcakes all you are really doing is adding a gummy fish atop of a pretty cupcake. Or if you want to make it even easier…add a gummy fish to a store bought cupcake. Voilà!

  1. These are really cute! I have been playing with a set of cake decorating supplies I had handed down to me from my grandma. I have had more fails than I care to admit, and they are all documented because of the “blowing out the birthday candle” photos, lol!
These look like a lot of fun, and gummy candy is always a hit in my house!

  2. Super cute! Reminds me of the edible aquariums we made recently with berry blue jello and swedish fish.

  3. Those are really cute! I may be using these some time. We’ll see what Isaiah requests for future birthday parties.
