Six Classic Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will Love

Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will Love

I am a sucker for the classics, in both literature and on the silver screen. I love the feel of older movies and love sharing them with my children. Sometimes the movies I remember loving as a kid fall flat with my kiddos. However, many of my favorites have made their way into my children’s hearts as well. The six movies listed below are some of my all-time favorites. Check out these awesome classic Disney movies. Your family will love them!

That Darn Cat (1965) Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will Love

That Darn Cat is easily my favorite classic Disney movie. It is full of wit, suspense, and oh so much humor! This is the movie that made me like cats. Even though That Darn Cat is nearly 50 years old my kiddos were rolling with laughter while they watched it. The humor and humanity of this movie is definitely not dated. Every kid ends up falling in love with D.C., the title character. You simply must watch this movie and follow D.C. on his mission to find the bad guys.

The Absent-Minded Professor

Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will Love

The Absent Minded Professor is a fun and goofy movie that will have your kiddos laughing so much they won’t even care that it is in black and white. This movie is the story of a college professor with an amazing invention that gets him into a little bit of trouble.

The Parent Trap (1961)

Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will Love

I first watched The Parent Trap at school and I was so amazed that they could make one actress appear to be twins in a movie. My sisters are twins and I always thought it would be fun to have my own double. The Parent Trap is the story of two twins who don’t know they are twins. Once they discover one another they set a plan in motion. Will they succeed?

Mary Poppins

Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will LoveI would be surprised if you have never seen Mary Poppins, or at least heard any of the songs from this very popular movie. Even though there is some animation in Mary Poppins I included it in this list because it really is a live action feature. This is a fun movie because it is the perfect mix of comedy and adventure. It is also full of great songs and some classic Disney magic.

Charlie the Lonesome Cougar

Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will LoveWe found this gem of a movie at our local video store several years ago and we absolutely loved it. I do not think I watched this movie as a child, if I did I do not remember it. That probably made this movie better when I watched it with my kids because every laugh and bit of adventure was just as new to me as it was to them. Charlie the Lonesome Cougar is the story of a cougar abandoned by its mother, adopted by a logger, and raised around people. But what happens when Charlie grows up? Watch it and find out!

Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)

Live Action Disney Movies Your Family Will Love

Escape to Witch Mountain is a sci-fi adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Some scenes might be too scary for sensitive children but overall it will be a fun and wild ride for your family.

I hope you will have the opportunity to share a few of these movies with your family soon.

What are your favorite classic Disney movies?

  3. My favorite is probably an animated one… Monsters Inc and also Wreck It Ralph…lol

The first three movies listed I remember watching in elementary school. Love these movies. The reason why I love movies like this is because there’s so family-friendly. It’s so hard to find a movie nowadays that’s not full of smut sex and foul language. You can always count on Disney

I’ve never seen the Absent minded professor, but if it’s in black n white, I’m afraid my kids will lose interest. 🙁 But I still want to see it!! LOL It’s the only one on the list I haven’t seen. I love classic Disney.
