Better Together: Because You’re Not Meant to Mom Alone

Better Together: Because You’re Not Meant to Mom Alone

Better Together2

Being a mom can be lonely, especially in those early years when you are not even sure if you know what the heck you are doing. I never really felt lonely until my first born started walking and when we started going places more often. I joined one playgroup but never clicked with any of the ladies. Then one day at the mall, I ran into a woman I knew from church. She was there with her playgroup and she asked me to join then. That was the first of many circumstances that led me to make several mom friends, including a few very strong friendships that have lasted for 12 years now. In their new book Better Together: Because You’re Not Meant to Mom Alone, Jill Savage and her daughter, Anne McClane, share strategies and stories to encourage you and help you find a few good moms to mom with.

This book is perfect for moms of little ones or even moms with older kiddos who feel alone.

About Better Together

Better Together explores the notion that women are not designed to mother alone. We are designed to mother in relationship with other women who understand what a mom’s life is like. We’re also designed to mother in relationship with the God who created us. This book encourages every mother to find her mothering community, a place where she can both give and receive support in the many forms moms need. Beyond encouraging moms to be in community, Better Together teaches how to build a tribe and what to do together once you have one, such as learn together, help together, care together, share together, pray together, forgive together, and encourage together.

Here is a picture of some of the women I mom’ed with for several years. I am close with a few of them to this day and I thank God for them regularly!

Read this book and go find your tribe!

So true, it takes many women to help you learn and go through this journey of this wonderful time in your lives and your children’s lives. Mine were my Mom, mother n law and my sisters. ❤ They are all gone now excerpt my older sister and I treasure every thought of them helping me in my youth as a new mommy.

  2. I really need some mom friends. I have never really had any and it’s definitely lonely without some lady friends around. My oldest is 4 years old and we moved to a new city when he was 1. Since that move I haven’t been able to find any mom friends so it’s been kind of rough.

This sounds like a great book. I will add it to my must read list. I am lucky enough to have a tribe of wonderful friends and all of our kids are the same age.

  4. I wish I would have joined a playgroup when my children were younger. To have that extra support from other moms would have been great.

  5. My wife has a tribe and I love how they support her and our kids. What a great book I am going to have to tell her to check it out.

  6. I had a little group that had kids too. It’s nice to have support groups.

  7. I have a great group of friends who are moms but we aren’t “Mommy friends”, if that makes sense. We just enjoy each other’s company and talk about our kids but we don’t go to each other for advice and we just have fun

  8. I’m always looking for new books to read and this one sounds great. I’ll be adding it to my fall/winter book list! Thanks for sharing.

  9. I miss all my relatives in Miami! They are my support group.

Sounds like a good read. My fiancee deals with these feelings all the time.
