Arizona Diamondbacks Games: Tips for Affordable Family Fun

Arizona Diamondbacks Games: Tips for Affordable Family FunMy family loves sports and attending sporting events is always a treat. However, it seems like most of the teams in my part of the country make it difficult for hard-working families to attend a game. Parking is very expensive at many locations, outside food and drinks are a no-no, venue food items are pricey, and tickets are often high priced. The Arizona Diamondbacks seem to be aware of this and have taken quite a few steps to make their games accessible to all. Here are some tips to help your family have a fun and affordable day at the ballpark. Arizona Diamondbacks Games: Tips for Affordable Family Fun

Kids Club

The first stop families should make when they get to Chase Field is the Kids Club area. Signing up for a Kids Club membership is free and it comes with many benefits. The D-backs Kids Club rewards fans ages 15 and younger with prizes and special privileges for attending games. You can register online or in person. Your child will be given a cool lanyard and card that you will then scan at subsequent games. Kiddos earn prizes, gain free entry into Sunday games, and when they have their card and Kids Club t-shirt (prize awarded at second game) they can go to the front of the Kids Run the Bases line after Sunday games. The 2018 Kids Club prizes are listed below. Get more details here.

Sandlot

Right next to the Kids Club is the Sandlot where your kids can play on the playground, get in some batting practice, receive coaching tips from D-backs Training Centers coaches, and maybe even meet Baxter! It is a fun place that my family always visits when we go to D-backs games (and it’s included with your ticket!).

Food

The D-backs actually do two things that make eating at a game affordable. First, the D-backs have a family-friendly (and wallet-friendly) outside food policy. I cannot thank the D-backs enough for this. Here is the policy, copied from the D-backs site and highlighted by me: Arizona Diamondbacks Games: Tips for Affordable Family FunThe second thing that makes dining at a D-backs game more affordable is the availability of value items and the value pack. The D-backs Value Pack includes one bleacher ticket, one hot dog OR Subway® sandwich, and one regular soda for $25 or $30 (depending on where your seats are). Additionally, many concession stands carry the Value items shown below.Arizona Diamondbacks Games: Tips for Affordable Family Fun

La Terraza

La Terraza is located in the right field upper concourse and is a hot spot during Friday-Sunday games. You can visit this area no matter where your ticketed seat is. This is a fun place to hang out and you can find Hispanic-themed food, drinks, a giant prize wheel, and a great view of the game. The picture at the very top of this post is of my kids in La Terraza before a game.

Be a Designated Driver – Get a Free Soda

Sign up as a designated driver at a kiosk and get a free soda voucher. It is quite simple: enter your information, scan your driver’s license, and get the voucher!

I hope you have discovered at least one way to take in a D-backs game affordably that you did not know before. I learned most of this while attending a recent D-backs Blogger night where my family and I were guests of the D-backs. I would like to thank them for that event and encourage my readers to take their families out to a ballgame!
