Ant-Man and the Wasp successfully continues the Marvel franchise.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man and the Wasp is just what the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs right now. Keep reading for my spoiler-free and family-focused review.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Whose side were you on in Captain America: Civil War? I was Team Cap and so was Scott Lang (Ant-Man). Ant-Man and the Wasp picks up two years after the events of Civil War and Scott Lang is serving house arrest for violating the Sokovia Accords, thanks to fighting alongside Captain America. In that time, Scott has focused on being a good dad to his daughter and getting a security business off the ground. Scott has just a few days of house arrest left at the beginning of the movie, guaranteeing that things are not going to go according to plan.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

A few days before his house arrest is to end, Scott finds himself back in contact with Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym and facing a life-changing and seemingly impossible mission. It is clear that Scott and Hope had a romantic relationship since the last movie and that Scott’s decision to team up with Captain America led to a split. But Scott is eager to help Hope with her and Hank’s important mission. The chemistry between these two is undeniable and stronger than in the first Ant-Man movie.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

I will not spoil the movie for you by discussing the mission or the scary villain called Ghost. I will say that Ant-Man and the Wasp is a fun ride full of laughs and excitement. This is the perfect summer movie and is just what the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs after the heavy ending in Avengers: Infinity War. Ant-Man and the Wasp builds on the original movie and the characters it introduced, while also linking to both Civil War and even Infinity War. Be sure you have seen those three movies before watching this one.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man and Wasp is pure entertainment and I felt energized when the credits started rolling. This movie needs to be on your summer movie list! A few notes for parents, though. Like the original, this movie has some moderate profanity. However, it seemed to be less frequent than in the first Ant-Man movie. I counted one s-word, several damns, a hell, and a few instances of using God’s name in vain. There is significantly less glamorizing of crime than in the first movie. The film is rated PG-13.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Rating: PG-13 for some sci-fi action violence.

Running time: 118 minutes

Worth seeing in 3D? The media preview I saw was in 2D, but I kept thinking it would be amazing in 3D.

Scene after the credits? Yes! The credits begin with some fun images and then there are two post movie scenes. DO NOT MISS these.
