Red, White, and Blue Dessert - A Patriotic Summer Treat

Red, White, and Blue Dessert – A Patriotic Summer Treat

Red, white and blue dessert. Perfect for July 4th and Memorial Day gatherings.I love most berries and would rather eat them than candy. A perfectly ripe berry is like heaven for your mouth, especially on a hot summer day. When I told my son that I was planning to make a red, white, and blue layered dessert with berries in it, he reminded me that he hates whipped cream and requested that I also keep any other creamy concoctions out. For simplicity’s sake and also to grant my son’s request, I used angel food cake as the white element in this dessert. This is so easy to make and despite its lack of sauce, creams, and other complications, it is quite delicious. This would be wonderful and refreshing dessert for your Memorial Day or Independence Day gatherings. After all, a red, white, and blue dessert will fit in perfectly with the July 4th fireworks.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries
  • Angel food cake

Instructions

  1. Wash berries and let them dry.
  2. Cut angel food cake into cubes, removing any brown crust.
  3. Layer berries in a red, white, and blue pattern.

The layers will not stay distinct due to the lack of a creamy layer, but you still end up with a delicious dessert that is a great showcase for your Memorial Day or Independence Day gathering.

Red, white, and blue dessert. Perfect for Memorial Day or July 4th.
